Use the general ledger to trace an account balance back to recorded entries.

1. Open the ledger

Go to Reports → General Ledger. Select the relevant account, period, and currency.

2. Find the entry

Review the date, description, debit, credit, and running or closing balance. Use the reference or source link to open the related record.

3. Compare the source

Check the source document’s date, account, amount, and status. Payments and sales can produce different entries for the same customer.

4. Correct at the source

Use the original document’s supported correction flow when it is wrong. Review genuine manual journals in Manual Journals rather than creating a second unrelated entry.
