Review what the importer will create or change before applying it.

1. Choose the business and record type

Select the intended business. Use Customers → List → More → Import Customers, Purchases → Vendors → Import Vendors, or Items → More → Import File.

2. Upload and map

Use the sample and limits shown by that importer. Upload the file, confirm its headers, and match the fields. Customer imports create new contacts; use the identified customer editor for updates.

3. Review the rows

Read the New, Skipped, Invalid, or item change details. For items, select Preview Changes before applying.

4. Apply and read the result

Confirm the intended operation. Read saved and skipped counts, the report, and the Import ID. Email validation during a customer import may reject a row that initially appeared new.

5. Avoid duplicate retries

Correct only rows confirmed as rejected. If the result is unknown or Needs Review, use Check Status or support before uploading another copy.
